Ildi Budai
Archaeological Photographer & Researcher
Ildi Budai is an archaeological photographer and researcher based in Egypt. Her passion for ancient Egypt began at a very young age, and by the age of 15 she was expending her interest to other ancient cultures. One of her early inspirations for thinking outside the box was Immanuel Velikovsky, the scholar who wrote about controversial alternative history and philosophy in the 1950s.
Whilst travelling to Egypt was always something Ildi wanted to do, for 20 years she worked in the corporate world in Melbourne, Australia, and for a short period of time she was the Manager for Steven & Evan Strong (Forgotten Origin).
In 2014 Graham Hancock spoke in Melbourne, and promoted a tour to Egypt where he would debate Zahi Hawass during the tour. This was the moment her life changed forever. In 2015 she arrived in Egypt for the first time, feeling as though she had returned home! That journey through Egypt was an absolute eye opening trip, and the wealth of knowledge that Graham Hancock shared on this tour, helped to change the life path that Ildi was on.
After returning from her trip to Egypt, Ildi soon quite her corporate job and embarked on a mission to see and experience as much as possible through travel. After visiting Peru and Bolivia at the end of 2015, her photography drew the attention on researchers and other enthusiasts – and her career as an archaeological photographer began!
After many trips to Egypt, South America, and Easter Island, Ildi moved to Egypt to semi-retire and pursue her passion for photography and ancient Egyptian history.
Ildi now works for Khemit School of Mysticism and Horus Rising part time, as a tour co-ordinator and managing the administration of tours. Through this she is able to travel, follow her passion for photography and ancient history, and meet individuals who are also deeply passionate about ancient history, as well as, work with researchers at archaeological sites. Ildi runs a series on Watcher’s Talk called “Talking Egypt” and has a Facebook group Journeys
through Egypt, where she continues to share her research and passion for ancient Egypt.
She is currently working on a YouTube channel for Journeys through Egypt, to provide information on
lesser known places of interest in Egypt.
